LOLC Al-Falaah earned five prestigious accolades at the 11th Islamic Finance Forum of South Asia (IFFSA) Awards 2026, reaffirming its leadership in advancing ethical, inclusive, and socially responsible finance in Sri Lanka. Held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo, on October 20, 2026, the awards recognized excellence across its operations, innovative product portfolio, and impactful societal contributions.
LOLC Al-Falaah secured five accolades at the IFFSA Awards 2026, headlined by Gold awards for the Spirit of Islamic Finance and Social Upliftment awards. The triumphs also included Silver awards for Islamic Finance Entity of the Year and Islamic Finance NBFI/Window of the Year, alongside a Bronze for Islamic Finance Product of the Year for its innovative Wakalah Future Cash Today, highlighting performance excellence across its service ecosystem. Further complementing these five institutional accolades, LOLC Al-Falaah’s dedicated In-House Scholar Advisor, Ash-Shaikh Zaid Nooramith received the Silver award for In-House Scholar of the Year.
Earning Gold for Social Upliftment and upholding the Spirit of Islamic Finance reflects LOLC Al-Falaah’s commitment to translating the ethical foundations of Islamic finance into tangible community value. During the year, this philosophy extended beyond delivering financial solutions to expanding access to knowledge, education, and opportunity. A series of 11 Islamic finance awareness programs engaged over 3,000 participants, fostering a deeper understanding of responsible, faith-based financial solutions, complemented by digital campaigns that broadened outreach locally and internationally.
This human-centric ethos was equally evident in education, where 8 complimentary Grade 5 Scholarship seminars benefited more than 1,000 students island-wide. By offering expert academic guidance, learning materials, and stationery packs free of charge, LOLC Al-Falaah eased financial burdens on families while supporting young academic aspirations. These initiatives exemplify a holistic approach to social upliftment: empowering individuals and communities through knowledge, opportunity, and structured support.
Extending this philosophy to accessible financial solutions, LOLC Al-Falaah delivers its Alternate Financial Services through LOLC Finance's extensive island-wide network of over 200 branches, augmented by four dedicated Al-Falaah branches and three specialized AFS service centers. Supported by digital platforms such as LOLC Real Time and its lifestyle mobile app iPay, this reach ensures seamless convenience while reinforcing the principle that responsible finance must serve communities meaningfully. Together, these efforts bring the Spirit of Islamic Finance to life through inclusion, education, and purposeful engagement.
Commenting on the achievement, Mr. Montini Warnakula, Chief Operating Officer of LOLC Finance PLC, stated, "The Spirit of Islamic Finance is deeply rooted in principles that demand fairness, transparency, accountability, and genuine value creation. Applying these values consistently is central to building enduring stakeholder confidence. This recognition reinforces our commitment to sustainable growth anchored in integrity, responsible financial practices and meaningful stakeholder value. The portfolio expansion reflects our customers' trust in solutions guided by ethical economic frameworks."
Reflecting on the milestone, Mr. Shiraz Refai, Head of Alternate Financial Services at LOLC Al-Falaah, remarked, "For us, Islamic finance has always been about more than financial performance. It is about understanding people’s aspirations, responding with empathy and creating opportunities for shared progress. The Social Upliftment Award recognises our commitment to the communities that have been part of our journey, while the Spirit of Islamic Finance Award affirms the values that guide everything we do. We aspire to build relationships that transcend transactions and develop into multi-generational partnerships founded on trust. These achievements belong equally to our customers and our dedicated team, whose confidence and commitment continue to enable LOLC Al-Falaah to create meaningful impact locally and globally. "
As LOLC Al-Falaah continues to build on its legacy of operational distinction, it remains steadfast in translating the true spirit of Islamic finance into enduring, positive outcomes for customers, families, and communities across Sri Lanka.
