LOLC came forward to assist the Sri Lanka Navy that is playing a vital role in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka at a crucial time of need, by donating 1,000 Microgard 2000 coveralls or full body suits. The donation was handed over through the Manusath Derana relief programme which LOLC has already tied up with. The body suits which were handed over to the Sri Lanka Navy Commander at the Navy Head Quarters recently provides both protection and comfort with exceptional liquid and particulate protection.
Over 200 Navy personnel were infected by the COVID-19 in the Welisara Naval Complex which houses nearly 4,000 naval personnel. The Navy base was completely locked down following the identification of a large number of COVID-19 infected personnel. Close contacts of the infected personnel were also directed to PCR tests, on a priority list and those who tested positive for COVID-19 were sent to hospitals for treatment by the Navy. Some Naval officers who were on leave also contracted the infection. It is during this challenging time that LOLC stepped forward to assist the Navy and the Navy personnel who are helping to fight the COVID-19 battle in the frontline, throughout the nation.
